Labels X enhances Apple's file labeling features in Mac OS X. This means that, not only can you apply various color tints to file or folder icons, but also you have an option of applying color tints to either an icon or its name or both. This gives you more freedom and options in organizing your files. Additionally, Labels X shares file label information with Mac OS 9. So, no matter where you label your files - you will see the labels in both Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X (file labeling is a built-in feature in Mac OS 9).
Labels X functions with no features removed for first 15 days - so you can try it out in full before deciding if you want to keep them or not! If you have evaluated previous version before,
your trial period will be reset so you can try the new version in full as well.
* Note: The Labels X 3.x (LX) upgrade is not free. This release implements a new URU (Unsanity Registration Updater). If you bought LX on or after August 28th, 2009, this upgrade is free. If you bought LX before August 28th, 2009 and you have a previously valid serial number, you will be given a 33% coupon if you wish to update. Your currently valid code will continue to work with older releases of LX.
All of the serial number updating is done through URU. URU presents itself if needed when you open the LX Preference Pane. It's all very straight forward and we hope you enjoy the action.
* Note: Labels X v3.0 and newer are NOT compatible with Mac OS X 10.5.x

New in version 3.0.1:
- Fixed a bug that caused LX to save the new registration numbers to the wrong file which made LX act unregistered.
New in version 3.0:
- This upgrade is not free. This release implements a new URU (Unsanity Registration Updater). If you bought Labels X (LX) on or after August 28th, 2009, this upgrade is free. If you bought LX before August 28th, 2009 and you have a previously valid serial number, you will be given a 33% off coupon when the LX preference pane is launched if you wish to update. Your currently valid code will continue to work with older releases of LX.
- You can download the previous version of LX from http://www.unsanity.net/labels-x-182.dmg. LX 1.8.2 does not work with Mac OS X 10.5 or Mac OS X 10.6.
- All of this is done through URU. URU presents itself if needed when you open the LX Preference Pane. It's all very straight forward and we hope you enjoy the action.
- Now requires Mac OS X 10.6.x.
- You may have to restart after installing LX for the first time.
- Updated to support Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard v10.6.x
- Now supports only Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard v10.6.x
- Adds support for 64-bit processes (x86_64 only, ppc64 is not supported)
- Requires Rosetta. If Rosetta is not installed, Mac OS X 10.6.x will offer to install the 4MB Rosetta package during install.
- Reordered labels in the preference pane to match Finder ordering since that order seems preferred over the correct order (0-7).
- Some little itsy-bitsy fixes.
- Tweaked the way icons are colorized so labels are more uniform for different views (list, icon)
- "Draw Labeled Stripes" option is off by default.
- Almost 3 years later its previous update, Labels X returns.
- Only Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is supported.
- Clang/LLVM's excellent static analyzer helped us to find and fix some bugs that would only show up during a red moon. Go Clang!

- Fixed an issue preventing Recent Items menu from working on Intel-based Macs.
